Now time to play a little bit of catch-up, it's late and I desperately need sleep, so I'll just fill ya'll in on Sunday. I'll write more in the coming days to bring you fully up to speed (let's face it - I know you don't want to read a novel-long post anyway).
Sunday, May 5
We left Southern California around 11 a.m. - we had to pack and clean the house before we left, and didn't get nearly enough of that done the day prior. On our way to Vegas, I wanted to be sure that we stopped at an In-N-Out so this California girl could get one last cheeseburger with grilled onions and an order of fries (well-done).
Yes, I know In-N-Out is now in Nevada and Arizona (I think Texas too?), but I wanted one last CALIFORNIA In-N-Out meal. It was, of course, delicious.
We arrived in Vegas just in time for the 4 p.m. check-in at the Rio (where we were able to get our room for about $35 per night - SCORE!). The line to check-in rivaled those at Disneyland, but we finally got to our room around 5:30.
At that point, I realized I forgot our phone charger in the car (whoops!), so poor Joe had to go back to the car while I ordered Penn & Teller tickets from bed with a drink in hand. I definitely had the better end of that deal, but given my tendency to get lost in large places, Joe thought it safer to go himself.
When he returned, we freshened up, got ourselves a little fancy looking, and headed downstairs in search of a quick bite to eat and some gambling before the show (which was in our hotel - super convenient!).
Penn and Teller were great - Joe and I like both magic and comedy, and it was the perfect marriage of the two. Also, they both came out into the lobby for photos and autographs after the show, which was fun. Penn is even taller than he looks on TV, and Teller will talk - we heard him :)
The night concluded with a bit more gambling and drinking. We decided to make drinks in our room to save money (after all, saving money is the Brier way). It was definitely the smart move money-wise - our giant bottle of Costco vodka was $16 and they were selling Barbie-sized vodka cranberries for $10 each at the casino bar.
Boom. That's how it's done.
